Is it really December?

I can’t believe we are on a final push towards Christmas, where did November go?
Today I’m sharing a card which with a bit of die cutting ahead of time would make a great card for mass production.

This card uses my favourite suit from the Autumn Winter seasonal, Feels Like Frost. There is a whole range of coordinating loveliness to choose from, ive used the papers which are photographic one side and silver designs the other for the backing and die cut frames to layer up, finished with ice Stampin glitter and some beautiful shimmery seaside spray ribbon, perfect for making cards on the go or making a batch at a time.
I’ll be back soon with some Christmas projects for the home and some wrapping ideas so make sure to follow me for more inspiration.

Brightly Gleaming

If you are anything like me then I expect you have a hard job resisting anything shiny, so I couldn’t resist getting the beautiful copper finished papers that coordinates with the brightly gleaming stamp set, unfortunately I was not alone in loving these papers and they are know sold out!
The stamp set is still available so I thought I would show you some cards which I made using it, once I started I couldn’t stop!

This card uses the seasonal layers dies and I have stamped the image and greeting in versamark ink and embossed it with copper embossing powder for some shine.

In these two cards the layout is the same and I have made a 3D bauble using the punches which coordinate with the stamped images, again using embossing powder.

Finally I used the punches to make baubles as above and added them onto an embossed background for some texture.
I hope that’s given you some ideas and if you didn’t manage to get those beautiful papers, you could substitute any of our other papers for the baubles.

#Elfie

I couldn’t resist the cute elf set that we have this Christmas, since we have an elf come to visit us each year in my day job as a childminder I knew it would get lots of use!
I thought it was perfect for a waterfall card as there are lots of images of cheeky elves to choose from.

As you can’t see the images on each flap I’ve uploaded a video so you can see it in action.
That’s all from me today,

More Christmas

I think Christmas has to be my favourite time of the year, so many reasons to craft with so many cards, tags and other items to make!
With that in mind I’d like to share a simple card using just a couple of elements from one of my favourite sets Snowfront.

To make this card, I have inked the background and added a circle mask to make a moon and then used the trees from Snowfront to create some dimension. A really quick card to make if like me you send lots of cards.

I also experimented with the stamps on some tree decorations.

I used some pre drilled wood slices to stamp on, using stazon ink this time and added some glitter to make them lovely and shimmery. These could either be used as tree decorations, for tags or on the front of a card where it would double as both a card and decoration.
I hope I’ve inspired you not to just stamp on card stock, and I’ll be back soon with some more inspiration.

Christmas is coming!We have a

Christmas is fast approaching and here at the Crafty Yellow Camper we’ve been busy with Christmas cards over the last few weeks, prepping kits for classes and planning for our mini onstage (more on that later).
Stampin Up! have given us such a wide range of Christmas crafting supplies that cover all your Christmas needs and much more it’s been hard to decide where to start, I have had so many ideas floating around in my head that it’s been difficult to pin them down and start on my own cards!
I thought today I would share some of the ideas that we have made in my October classes.

Firstly
We have a fabulous suite of items that I have used to make this snow globe shaker card, so easy to put together with our snow globe shaker domes which come already sticky for you to assemble easily and there is a great set of stamps and dies which coordinate to make it even easier. I think those little polar bears are my favourite and they will be appearing on lots of my cards this year!
I also wanted to show you that you don’t need to use the domes to get other great cards using this set..
On this card I have used the dies but not the domes and after inking it spritzed it with some frost white all purpose ink to give it lots of shimmer. The dies make it really easy to create a scene with little or no stamping, which is great for mass production.

On this card I used the wonderful snow front to create a Christmas mountain scene, a great stamp set for creating endless scenes using different combinations of the stamps. I will be showing you later on how to pair this with Waterfront to expand the possibilities.
That’s all from me today, watch this space for more ideas.

Penguin Parade

Okay so it’s not exactly a parade! You’ll have to forgive me my alliteration!
Today’s card uses the cute new penguins which have, in my opinion, many uses, Stampin up! Have though of us and incorporated some greetings which make it not only great for Christmas but also great for birthdays, anniversaries and much more. Any of you who know me well will know that however lovely a set is I stick to my 5 ways rule when purchasing new product, so for this set we have the 3 card types I’ve mentioned above, plus it will be awesome for making tags, decorating wrapping paper and much more.

Again a fairly simple card, I used some sponges and ink blending tools and the torn paper technique to make the background for the penguins and added some of that ice glitter for snow, there isn’t a die for the penguins I’m afraid but they aren’t difficult to fussy cut, I have a you tube tutorial about fussy cutting, and they do ramp up the cuteness factor by raising them up with dimensional.
That’s all from me for today, check back next week to see what I’ve been up to with our snow globe dies and the wonderful new Snow Front stamp set.

A bit of sparkle

A girl can never have too much bling! And one of my favourite things about Christmas is that it gives me the excuse to hit the sparkle, Stampin Up! Have introduced some new sparkle products in the seasonal catalogue, there is new ice glitter, shimmery crystal glaze and sparkle embossing powder, be still my beating heart!!
When I got the chance to look through the new seasonal brochure and get my hands on some of the new goodies one of the first things I ordered was the Feels like Frost bundle, it was so gorgeous that I HAD to have it all (although all of the items are available separately) and in today’s card I just used the stamp set to make a simple one layer Christmas card, stamping using versamark and heat embossing for some sparkle, with the finishing touch of a bit of shading with a chalk pen. Ideal if you need to batch make lots of cards and easy to post with only one layer, let’s face it we don’t want the embarrassment of our recipients having to pay extra postage because we went overboard with the bells and whistles (embellishments and extra layers!)
It really is a very simple card but I hope you like it.
Check back tomorrow where I’ll be showing you the cute new penguins we have in the seasonal catalogue.

Friday Favourites

One of the sets that has spent the most time on my desk has been Free as a Bird. I absolutely love the image of the 3 birds on the branch and have used it for loads of different cards. I haven’t however, used the single birds as much so challenged myself to use those more. I also find that there are sets which jump out of the catalogue at me and go straight to the top of my ‘must have’ list, and then there are those which are the slow burners and grow on me gradually. Very Versailles was one of those sets, so in this card I’ve combined the 2 sets in another simple card which I hope you will think is very effective.

I just love that script stamp and the leaves are so simple but elegant.
That’s all from me today, l will be back over the weekend with some of the Christmas projects I’m working on.

Thursday Picks

Hi there,
I thought I would share a couple of cards using product from the annual catalog which sometimes can get overlooked at this time of year, I love Christmas and will be the first to admit that I’m having lots of the wonderful new Christmas sets on my desk at the moment, but there are some wonderful sets in the annual catalogue too, and as I’m a bit in denial as we race towards Christmas at an alarming speed, a bit of all year crafting helps settle my impending panic!

The first card I’m sharing today features the amazing magnolias, there is a whole suite of coordinating products, a 2 part stamp set, dies, designer series papers etc, for this #simplestamping card I’ve used the main magnolia image as the focal point and embossed with our fabulous copper embossing.
Check back tomorrow to see the other card I made.

Let’s Sail Away

Now I have my mojo back I’ve been on a bit of a roll with different stamp sets, and I just can’t get enough of the Sail away suite. There are so many possibilities with this set, and it more than fits my 5 ways rule! So far I’ve used it for scrapbooking, making cards, in a photo album for a friend and on tags, the possibilities are endless! And its been on my desk pretty much permanently since it arrived.

For my last class I used it to make some watercolour cards......

For these cards I used a couple of different watercolour techniques, a mix of using sponges and brushes to make the backgrounds, and a mix of colouring with watercolour pencils and a aqua brush and ink pads. Finished off with a bit of stamping using the high tide stamp set, and some of the images from Sailing Home, which are then die cut with the matching framelits, and I had 2 simple quick cards.

Next I turned to a moving card.......

This was a slider card, made with some help from my penny jar! A hidden greeting when the card is closed and then revealed when it slides.

If you would like to purchase any of the ‘ingredients’ please drop me a line.

I’ll be back soon with one more card in this set, but for now I have small people waiting for a trip to the beach!

Summer Daisies

Welcome back, I hope that you have been enjoying the summer weather, It’s been the school holidays for us which means I’ve had lots of small people to entertain and we’ve been busy with lots of different activities, so my crafting has had to take a back seat.  I have found time to play with the Daisy Lane stamps and punches and this is what I came up with.......

This is the first card I made, I got the inspiration from Pinterest, I forgot to note who had pinned this card, so if you recognise it thank you for the inspiration, when my mojo has deserted me, I find Pinterest really helpful for giving me a starting point, next I went to one of my go to blogs for some
more inspiration and found this......

A huge thank you to Amanda Charlesworth at Scrimping Mommy for the tutorial on how to make this flower pot card, I changes the dimensions slightly but otherwise all the credit goes to her, this card will take a gift card, always handy.

Next I played with an idea I had, I like interactive cards that double as a small gift for those moments you need to show someone you’re thinking of them.......

I’ve reverted to my go to yellow and used some of the retired Gingham Gala paper together with those fabulous daisies and made a card with a removable bookmark.

Finally I used up some left overs from a previous class I held and used some stitched rectangle left overs to make a frame for this card........

I bought in some of the stamps from the Daisy Delight stamp set.
I kept it simple with the stamping and let the colours make the impact, adding some wink of Stella to make it shimmery,  and adding a couple of butterflies from the butterfly punch.  Stampin Up! Really make it easy for us to co-ordinate different stamp sets so that a bit of scrap card stock and some simple stamping make, I hope you’ll agree, a lovely card.

That’s all for me for today, thank you to everyone who help regain my mojo, if you would like to order any of the products I’ve used in these cards, please feel free to drop me a line.

Happy Stamping

Beautiful Magnolias Technique Tuesday

Hi again,
My wonderful Parents have just celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary and I thought that I would share the card that I made for them.

I've used a mixture of techniques to make this card, some embossing, die cutting and a couple of different colouring techniques.

I've taken a close up of it and hopefully you can see the shimmer on the flowers. I've also used the new frames dies and embossing folders which pair together to make 2 different frames, they are absolutely fabulous, and once you get the hang of lining them up they are easy to use.  I'll try to put together a video showing how to use them in the next few days.

That's all from me for today,

Happy Stamping

Did someone mention You Tube???

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all enjoying the warmer weather and getting lots of crafting done inspired by the sun?

Here at the Crafty Yellow Camper HQ I've been in a dither...... I made a promise to myself at On Stage  in April that I would get to grips with You Tube, I know how to watch it, search it, and loose hours at a time on it, BUT I hadn't ever recorded or uploaded to it.

I've had my tripod for my mobile phone sitting in a drawer for a few months now so thought it was about time that I dusted it off, yes it's been several months!, and have a go at filming etc. So, I've made a 3 part video on making this card and if you get a spare few minutes I'd be honored if you'd hop over to you tube and give it a look.  There's no mystery to why it's in 3 parts and they aren't long videos, i just haven't got the hang of pausing instead of stopping when I'm recording as I can't see the screen!
If you don't watch You Tube you can also see the videos on my Facebook Page, The Crafty Yellow Camper.

Here is the finished card, happy viewing!

Welcome Back,

Just a quick post from me today, I realised that I hadn't shown you the female version of the fancy fold easel card that I made with the ladies at the club this week, so here it is..........

I used other in colours, this time Terracotta Tile, with some Rococo Rose  and the Free as a Bird Stamps, again we stamped our own background papers and I used the single bird image on the easel section of the card.

I'll be back soon with some more ideas and new stamps.

Happy Stamping,

I am Sailing!............

Hello again,

I'm back with some more new stamp sets in the new annual catalogue, (how many of you were singing along with me when you read the title of this post???!)

For this card I used the amazing Sailing Home stamp set, this is another amazing bundle of goodies, stamps, dies, designer series paper, embellishments and twine!  This set is fab for making cards for the men in your life, there are lots of dies to cut out the images as well as some very detailed dies which are great for adding those finishing touches, the rope, ships wheel and the knot of rope are all extra dies in the set.  I'm also told that the die to cut out the lighthouse also cuts out the light house in High Tide, so if you already have that set then this is a bonus.

I was also asked to demonstrate at a local club this week and what better than this set to make a male version of the fancy easel fold card.

On this card I've used a new in colour Seaside Spray, I've used the smaller stamps in the set to make my own background paper, I'm still at the stroking rather than chopping stage with the Designer Series Paper in the suite!  The ladies at the club seemed to like it, I hope you do too?

That's all from me today, if you would like to order any of the products in this post, or have any questions, please feel free to drop me a message.

Happy Stamping.

I'ts finally here...........

The time has finally come for the new catalogue to go live, and I've had a couple of weeks to add to my stash and to have a play with some new items.
In my classes this month we've been focusing on some new stamp sets, alongside some fancy folds.

For this card we used Free as a Bird from the Bird Ballard suite, and what a beautiful suite it is! I've just used the stamps and the super cute lace trim on this card, but there are matching designer series papers, trinkets and some nested labels dies that all co-ordinate with the stamp set.
I can't claim the credit for the fancy fold design of this card, I have to credit the very talented Mikaela Titheridge who shared the design on her blog over at thecraftyoinkpen.co.uk.

Also coordinating with this set are the stamps from the Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin kit,

This set is available while stocks last, and for £20 you get all the supplies you need to make 12 amazing cards, and after you've made up the kit, you still have the ink spot and the stamps to make more cards, It's the kit that keeps on giving!

To give you an idea we made these cards in my class......

We used some of the new in colours and the stamps from the Hugs from Shelli Kit, along with the nested stitched label dies.

If you would like to order any of the products I've shown you here, feel free to contact me.
That's all from me for now, I'll be back soon with some more new stamps and ideas.

Happy Stamping!

Something new.....

welcome back,
It’s not long to go now until the big reveal of the new annual catalogue on June 4th so I thought you might like to see a couple of sneak peeks of new things coming soon.

Both of these cards feature something new, can you spot it?
On the first card the flowers are from a new set of stamps and also gave a coordinating punch, making it easy to build up the layers of the flowers, to make them even more beautiful and layered we have some coloured vellum coming too.
On the octopus card the anchor is from a fabulous new set featuring boats amongst other things, I gave a feeling this is going to see a lot of ink here at the crafty yellow camper as I come from a sailing family, and I’m sure none of you will be surprised to discover that the family hatch is also yellow! Are you seeing a pattern here!?
In case you were wondering the background for both of these cards was made using the cling film technique, a bit messy, but with fantastic results.

The final card I have to share with you today uses the fabulous new best birds, it has a whole suite of wonderful items that coordinate with it and the images are fabulous for those of us who love colouring, I’ve used the blends to colour this but it would be equally amazing with watercolour pencils or using an aqua painter and our inks.
That’s all from me today, I’ll be back soon with more sneak peeks for you.
Please also excuse any bleepers in my last couple of posts, both my tablet and computer have decided to give up on me so I’ve had to resort to using my phone to post these! No mean feat I can tell you!

Last chance to see...........

Hello again, it's been a bit quiet on the crafting front here at the Crafty Yellow Camper as we have sadly had a death in the family.

I thought I would share some of the cards from my last class which gave me a chance to explore some background techniques and say a fond farewell to some more of my favorite retiring stamp sets.  There's always a lot of excitement about new products coming but although lots of my favorite stamps made it over into the new catalogue, there are also a few that didn't.

This set has been one of my favourites as I love dream catchers and also the fact that there are dies to match. The technique we used for the background is the elastic band technique , really simple to do but quite effective.

On this next card we used the fantastic background wood effect stamp, this is retiring but thankfully the pinewood planks embossing folder isn’t as the wood effect backgrounds are so useful for masculine cards. I’ve paired it with the lovely as a tree set which after many years is finally retiring and will be missed. I’ve also given you a sneak peek at some great new frames dies coming soon in the new annual catalogue.

Finally we used sponges and inks to make this sea scene, inspired by one of my favourite places to take the yellow camper, we have seen some beautiful sunsets there framed by the trees and I wanted to recreate them. Once more I’ve used lovely as a tree with a few elements from high tide.
That’s all from me for today, don’t forget that retiring products will be gone on 3rd of June to make way for some new goodies that launch on 4th July so if there’s something you feel you must have in your stash , get in touch before they are gone forever!

Swap Central!!

Hello again,

It certainly was swap central here on the run up to On stage local, the week before On stage I was also involved in a charity afternoon tea to raise funds for the Blossom appeal in memory of a lovely fellow demonstrator who was taken too early by breast cancer.  Together with other demonstrators and friends we made over 600 cards and sold a lot of cake and tea to raise over £1000, a fantastic achievement I'm sure you'll agree.

I was luck to have some help from my lovely daughter to stamp and assemble my swaps , without her I don't think they would have happened!

I used a selection of stamps to decorate these wooden hearts, unfortunately in the rush to get them finished and packaged I forgot to take a photo of them all, this one uses a stamp from Dandelion wishes, which also made it into the next catalogue, I also used Let it Ride and Beautiful You.
The backs of the hearts were also decorated with some of the great motivational quotes we have in our stamp sets, and to package them up I used the envelope maker board and our wonderful papers to make envelopes.  If you are like me and tend to collect papers, store them carefully and stroke them lovingly, but don't actually cut them up and use them, bespoke envelopes is a great way to thin out your stash before it becomes the subject of a hoarding documentary on channel 5!!!!  (I have been threatened by my children that they will write in!)

And this is what they looked like when they were finished, in various designer series papers.  I hope those of you who received them were pleased with them, feel free to give me a shout out if you got one!

That's it for today, I'll be back soon with that sneak peek of new things to come soon, until then..... happy stamping.

On Stage Swaps

Hello again,

Today I thought I would share some of the wonderful swaps I received from other demonstrators while I was at On stage Local, swapping is a great way to get to talk to other demonstrators and to get ideas for cards and 3d projects.  We don't have to swap and there is no set number, but I try to make 50 swaps to take with me and then I come home with lots of lovely inspiration to share with all of you.

These are the cards that I received while at On stage, there are some lovely designs, definitely a few that I will be using to inspire me in future classes! If you recognize your swap thank you for swapping with me.

These are a few of the 3d items that I received, again lots of inspiration................

And finally these, I absolutely loved all the swaps I received, its like receiving lots of wonderful gifts!  My fellow demonstrators are definitely a talented bunch!

That's it for today,  I'll be back next time with some pictures of the swap I designed and maybe a sneak peek at some of the new stamps we will have available from 4th June.

Happy Stamping

Staying with us ........

Today I'm sharing the other 2 cards that we made in my April class, this time I'm pleased to say that the stamp sets I've used will be carried over to the new catalogue which launches on 4th June.

This card uses Let It Ride and I'm really pleased that this has made it into the new catalogue, I've paired some of the images with a few from Waterfront, which also made it into the new catalogue to make this scene. By changing the colours in this scene the horses could be on grass or in the water, and this stamp also works well for a shadow technique, (watch this space).

The last card that we made in the April class was a floating frame card.

There are lots of video tutorials available for this technique, it looks very time consuming but it's actually very easy to assemble, I've used the flowers from First Frost, the greeting comes from Delicate Doily, so another reason to purchase that set before it disappears for good!

I hope you liked these cards, and as usual if you would like information on how to make them or on the products used, please don't hesitate to drop me a message.  I'll be back soon with some of the lovely swaps I received at on stage.

Happy stamping
